ECCET: Efficient, Capable, Comfortable and Exciting Technology

See, what is inside!

vessel system of the liver

Similar to the MEG-example, the vessels are displayed opaque while the liver surface is added semitransparently for better orientation.
All objects were extracted from the same CT dataset.

Segmented liver with caption

This liver was segmented for embedding the 3D image into a glass cube. To achieve this, vessel systems and surface were segmented and the caption was added. The individual parts are then "engraved" into the glass cube by a laser beam with different degrees of transparency.

Visualizing the 3D relationships by fog effects

Voxren allows to render fog effects in realtime. In this example the liver and its vessel system is displayed. the liver is handled as if it is filled with a brownish fog. Thus vessels that are farther away look as if they are partially occluded by the fog. This allows for a vivid 3D impression even without complex 3D gear.

VRML Worlds

If you want to get a 3D impression of a liver dataset, you can download VRML worlds here.

However, please note, that the quality of these worlds is very bad, due to the high compression that is required for bandwidth and client CPU power reasons. The originally 300MB of data is compressed down to 14-100kB (1:3000-1:20000 !).
You need a VRML-Plugin to view these worlds.
